I rode both Buell's today, a V-Rod and a Fat Boy, loved the Fat Boy what a
    blast to ride.

It might be just a statistical spike resulting from Post-September 11
patriotism rather than anything particularly good about the product.

The Harley & Honda dealer in Mildura was frequently heard to say he could
make more from selling a rack of T-shirts than he could from selling a
couple of Hondas. But he could make more again by selling little chrome
bits & pieces to tack onto the Harley to make it 'individual'.

Be very careful not to ride one then, it would be a shame to let such a
highly developed prejudice go to waste.

In my list of 10 bikes to have in the shed a Harley Fat Boy has just been
    added.

Just love that low down power, relaxed riding position and exhaust note, it
handles and brakes adequately given its design parameters. Although riding
it with my red BMW flip front helmet must have blown my street cred.

    You won't see too many of those bikes that handle and brake so well here;

What a lot of these blokes repeat is utter bullshite hearsay.. Harleys
handle and do the job they were meant to do ...
Ive had a couple and when $ permits get one to retire with...
not a vrod but a good solid v-twin
if I want to run about town its the rz .. go to darwin ?. the H
you can stick your silly crouched over semi racer seat , id rather have
a calloused cheek than a buggered wrist or two from leaning on then .
I really hope some of these people ride a Harley for a few 100 miles
in a straight run and lets see the reaction then .
    Bourbon is good.....

harleys are usually bagged the most by ppl who have never ridden one...no
they dont handle and brake like a jap sportsbike, but in my time of riding
hd's me and my mates had quite a few laughs at the expense of sportsbike
riders who couldnt...ditto goldwings...as for hd riders worst was HOG clubs,
very frustrating if u r used to motoring along a bit...

That's the key, isn't it. "Job they were meant to do".

THey've got a niche and they fill it well. An R1 is not a great dirt
road tourer, so it's obviously a crap bike that doesn't handle eh?

A cruiser is a cruiser, it's got a job to do and does it well. I haven't
done the comparison, but those who have ridden that and a California
of equivalent age say the stock Cali handles and goes and stops better
than the stock Harley, but that doesn't mean a Harley doens't handle or
    go or stop.

I last rode a Hog a few years ago now, it was a pleasant enough ride. I
wasn't in the market for a sportbike, so didn't ride it like one.
