Harleying it this weekend.

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Dave Jennings, Jun 18, 2005.

  1. This weekend is one of my bike clubs annual weekend runs, up to
Aberdeenshire. Usual stuff - some bands, barbie, etc. And the weather's
    great, especially for Scotland!

My VS wasn't running great the other night, so I wasn't going to go.
But yesterday I was in the Glasgow HD Dealership, and I've been offered
a Road King for the weekend. So I'll take it, in the spirit of decency
and helpfulness it was offered in!

We do a lot of work for them, and so it's a kind of thanks for the
extra stuff we've done to help when they've reported faults which were,
    almost always, operator errors.

I'm actually quite looking forward to it, it'll be interesting to see
how it feels out on the road.

The King is a great bike all round bike
Considering it's weight, best part of a 3rd of a ton!! But I luuuuuuuuuuurve
    mine.

I'll be taking the King to Jockland the 1st week of July, (staying near Loch
Awe) so can you please make sure you don't use all the good weather up this
weekend, save some for me ;o)

Thucking big and heavy compared to a Dyna convertible or similar. It's all
the tinware round the forks, and that mega front fender and wheel. It'll
trundle along ok, but you should try one of the less blinged up models too.

  4. Ta! Yeah, it'll be a blast, I'm sure. And trust me, if it stays dry
todaya nd tomorrow, that's summer over as far as Scotland's concerned!

  5. I'm certain it will be heavy! I have absolutely no intention of buying
one, they just offered it to me to let me play on it. There was also
the offer of the ultra-bling, top of the range HD model, whatever that
is, but my soul just wouldn't let me try that one.

  9. No, the V-Rod wasn't on offer - I'd have had his hand off if it was.
There's the Road King that I'm getting, and some other huge fecker
above that in the model range I think - or just a more blinged up RK,
maybe. Think it's a different model though, but not being a HD fan I
    couldn't say.

I was worried about that. Best I pack the waterproofs then instead of the
    sun cream ;o)

    IMHO an absoloutley terrible bike
    Heavy, slow and crap handling
However for long distances in a straight line at slow speeds I
supposed it would be ok ish.

And yes before you ask, I have ridden one.

Give me a Pan any day
or even a Wing come to that

    HTH
