The thrash the van to within an inch of its little Leyland life to get
back before the gates close sticks in my mind. "We need another bike:
    Quick! to Brum"

Being sober whilst being present at the attempt to raze the garages is
something I've tried to prevent coming back.

Yeah but there was some dust down from an oil spill, and yet I thought
I was far away enough not to have hit it. I'll never know.

Heh. It's what I was expecting and was quite suprised. Next time I need
to wear tighter fitting leathers ;-)

  9. It was probably exaggerated for me as my little 350 was getting
swallowed up by everything on the straights (except that TZR but he must
    have been running it in).

I got the feeling they got dumped into the novice group around
lunchtime, as I didn't see them before that. They should have been in
inters - as should you :)

Didn't affect my enjoyment of the day, they just seemed in the wrong
    group.

  10. No, same fire, it's the one I climbed over the gate to get in and out.
When I arrived Adie had hidden the ones in the garage because you
(well everyone now I think about it) was drunk.

Why not a "Wings with trailers and pillions" trackday?
I'd probably pay to watch that.

I don't deny that, but I was thinking from the viewpoint of the
organisers and their (prolly already onerous) insurance
    responsibilities.
Just like bangers with caravans in a spin'n'roll finale.

This seems unnecessarily restrictive. Some of us might like to take our
Pans out with the trailer and a pillion.

Alright, it's open to wings, pans, and full-dress harleys but we'll need
    a bloody big track.

He does still race Wing^h^h^h^htrucks, doesn't he?

Exactly how much would it cost to rent the M25 for a day?

As it's a track day and "not racing" I can't see the problem with
pillions, in principal or insurance terms. The last time I turned up
with my son at a Porker track day, knowing that you could deffo take
passengers, we were stymied by a "no under 12's" barrier. Insurance was
again the excuse but nobody could tell me what fucking difference the
age of the passenger could make to a potential insurance claim.

It's not like we haven't already proved that it's feasible to run
practice track sessions four up in a high speed sofa.....

Ron Haslam offers them on at his riding school at Donington.
Randy Mamola does them on the two seater Ducati. Unfortunately you
have to be a C list celeb. However, you can bid for them at the day
of champions just before the British GP. I think they go for around
£2k for a couple of laps! I'd probably do it though. Get an
experience to remember and just decide that whatever it costs is the
last donation to charity you'll ever make.)

A bit of fucking respect for peoples road bikes !
    As have I
    Heh, I couldn't possibly comment :)
That's why i'm doing trackdays, my biggest issue on a bike is cornering
    well,
especially on chossy, gravel strewn crap roads. At least the track
    gives me half a
change to corner well, now I just need to concentrate on better
    positioning for myself
on the bike, as I'm aware that "bolt upright" isn't right !
That's cool, but there were several bikes 'going for it' in my inter
    group, but they weren't
riding under me or chopping in front of me and slamming on the brakes.
As I said earlier, i'm perfectly happy to be passed and was at some
    speed by quite a few
of the inter group, but they passed safely and didn't force me to brake
or change line for the most part.
I know, I've been out a couple of times. Had I been on the 'storm i'd
have been less bothered about track damage, but bad riding is bad
riding. That's what the marshals should be looking out for.
If I was riding like a dangerous twat, i'd expect to be bumped to a
lower group or get black flagged.

People spend a lot of cash on their pride and joys, and rarely take out
track insurance (well, I didn't) so it's important.

    Cheers

    Paul.

It made me laugh at the TT when one of the prizes in the Marshals' draw
was a lap on the back of (IIRC) Ian Lougher.

The first newsletter said that the winner had been unable to take their
prize[1] and it was available again. :^)

[1] Presumably due to back trouble[[2].
[2] A big yellow streak down it...
