After roughly 4 years of organising the EOSM, and latterly the BOSM as well, I've decided to hand over to someone new and concentrate on something different, more of which a little later. A short scout round this year's EOSM's pissheads found me a new candidate in the form of Jackie, who has attended quite a few events in the past so knows the score. I'm sure she'll be able to do as good or probably a better job of it than myself and wish her all the best. I'd like to thank nearly[1] all those who came along to the events I organised, you made it all worthwhile. On the whole I enjoyed every single one of them and hope to feel the same about future events. Now, to my new venture. In late July a motley band of reprobates descended on a very wet Leicestershire to do a track day at Mallory Park. Once the weather had dried and brightened up I think it's fair to say that the vast majority had a cracking day out tearing round the circuit as fast as they dared. The odd one or two thought it a bit of a boring track, which is fair comment if you're a seasoned racer, which they were. As most of the UKRers there were first time trackday riders I thought it was a good choice of venue, and so did they. My plan is to arrange a deal with Mark 'Del-Boy' Neate at No-Limits Track Days so we can get discounted places at carefully selected trackdays through the year. To make my proposition viable I need at the very least 20 people at each one I arrange. That way we can get the same deal or maybe something even better than what we got on the Mallory day we did. I've chosen no-Limits because they are well known to me and others, they have organised hundreds of trackdays and have a very good reputation. I know Del-Boy personally and have had business dealings with him for a number of years, so know he's a trustworthy individual. They also give excellent tuition to those who need it free of charge, which was taken up by a few at Mallory. I figure that there are approx 200 regularish posters with bikes, from which maybe 50% would dare take their bike on a trackday, then we have the lurkers, friends of posters and friends of lurkers. All told there is easily the potential to get 25 people at 5 events spread through the year even if they only do one trackday a year each. I didn't have much trouble raising 23 people to go to Mallory, and that was the first attempt. Some might want to attend two or three, which can only make my life easier. Obviously track choice will be spread around the country to keep northerners and southerners happy, with the possible exception of the Jockanese contingent, because Knockhill is crap and everyone knows the fucking Porridgewogs can't ride unless it's raining anyway. I'd welcome any feedback on this idea, whether you think it's a good idea or even if you think it's shit. If you think it's shit then please tell me why, I'm not blessed with mind-reading capabilities and I'd really like to get this all sorted and arranged before next spring. There will be a 'No Cunts' rule and Mr Alun Davies, or whoever else he morphs into, will be excluded under it for as long as I am DFV. I organise, I choose. [1] If the organiser of an event like this asks politely and repeatedly that you cut the excessively loud swearing down to a minimum because the regular customers of the pub are getting visibly offended, please do as he or she asks. I personally don't like having "Fuck off you miserable Spic cunt" shouted loudly at me in a broad north Kent accent as I walk away after the final time of asking, and I'm sure the other users of the pub don't want to hear it either. If I'd organised another event like this then a certain Mr Alun Davies would have been excluded under the 'No Cunts' rule for exactly that type of behaviour. Mr Davies, you know who you are and so do many others, I'll call you a cunt here or to your face because you truly are. Don't bother coming to another event I'm organising, you won't be welcome. If you think I'm that much of a miserable Spic cunt, then you won't want to be there anyway.
