I can't. The fact that I was happy to let a 17 yo learner drive the car
should have indicated that I wasn't too bothered if it got pranged.
Heh, calm is not how I'd describe a car full of teenagers going out for the
    evening.
Heh, cnuts. I am now with KGM, no claims experience as yet mind.

Perhaps they were more concerned about who he might hit? :)

Utter and complete cunts. I'd rather keep my money under my mattress
    than deal with that crowd.

So it appears we can agree that banks, on the whole, are all cnuts?

Strange brand perception. What makes you think that?

The Co-op bank seems to me pretty much an Argos customer free zone.

I have a Barclays Premier account, and that means I get direct-dial
access to a Personal Account Manager. It's pos.

    Definitely different brand perception.

I would have expected that there was a great overlap between Argos
customers and Co-Op customers based on the sort of tat I've seen in the
window of Co-Op shops. But it's all probably deep based prejudice.

Well, I've got a pretty normal Lloyds TSB account but they've recently
assigned a Personal Account Manager who now helpfully rings me every few
months when she notices that there's a largish amount of money in the
account and asks me if I'd like her to arrange a transfer to my deposit
    account.

Strangely she doesn't notice that the money has just been transferred by
me from my deposit account to my current account...

The banks are a different place, mainly students and free spirit, tree
    hugging types.

This isn't helping dispel the prejudice is it?

I've been with Gnatwest since I was 16.

Only ever had one confrontation with them, which was sorted.

Other than that we leave each other alone [1].

[1] At one stage they started phoning me with sales calls dressed up as
surveys. I told them I was really happy with Natwest as they didn't hassle
me with any kind of contact other than monthly statements, and if that
arrangement were to change, I would bank elsewhere.

They don't seem to phone any more, which is nice ;-)

  18. I reckon that's part of the make *you* feel guilty about not liking
the service. If one complains then the suggestion that it maybe a
racial issue will deflect a percentage of the justified complaints.
Don't know, my youngest was going to open an account with them for
their higher interest 5% iirc. Which since she's a student and able to
refund the tax she should get in full but still with instant access
    should she need it.

She's just opened an account with Nat West but I see up there ^^^ you
have already used and decided against them. I made the mistake a
couple of years back of giving some business to Barclaycard after
swearing about 15 years ago to for ever avoid them. I wished I'd
    listened to my own advice.

  19. When they were girobank and part of the Post Office the service was
always very good. The decline since A&L took over has been huge but
gradual so customers take a while to notice. I binned them about 10
years ago but Kate still keeps an account solely because we're so
rural that the local post office is such a useful place to be able to
    bank.

I'd recommend Halifax. Okay, the call centre is in Scotland but
    they're good.
