A vice, preferably. Wrap the mirror in cloth and cardboard to prevent
any scuffage, then wedge it (bolts up (!)) in the vice. Using a
Stillson or Mole grips, wind the bolts out. This does rely on the
    bolts protruding, however.

As I was surveying, waiting for the trailer service home, I realised
that if it had been a bit faster or a bit further on I could've done a
    swan-dive onto the M6.

That would've really ticked me off.

The mirror itself is useable, but they're attached with snap bolts, so
it has the threads stuck in the, er, threads. If I could get them out
and get some new bolts then it'd be fine. I don't quite know how to so
    this though. Any clues?
Are there such things as OEM style indicators? The aftermarket
    "stylish" ones look horrible IMO.
I have a feeling that using the current panel as a mould might be
    marginally less work.
Good advice. I'll set about it tomorrow. Thanks TOG.

As I said to you, last weekend. (for the benefit of others)

Most likely it was, cos your tyres would be well warmed, by the time
    you reach that spot. [1]

The road was probably full of shite, cos the cunts at the quarry don't
    wash their wheels.

The roundabout usually has some diesel on it - mostly from the cunts
    at the quarry.

So, tyres most likely clogged with shite won't help, even worse if the
    roundabout was spattered with diesel...

Doesnt help that the Janitors see all this, (there are regular
accidents there), and seem not to get onto the quarry about spreading
    shite all over the place.

[1] Halfway along my route to work.[2]

  6. I've found them to be all the same (bar one). all holding next to no
stock and having to order from trumpet.

try Jack Lilleys, they hold more stock that trumpet do and will post.

  7. i'd agree with TOG (Dave has a nice yellow one you could borrow!). if
you bought new you need all those silver heat protector things as well
and they add up to a pretty penny.

Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Christofire
If they're snapped off flush then sir wants a nice left-handed drill,
sir does. Hit them with that and they'll almost certainly spin out.

I've forgotten something. What is it? What is it?..

    Oh yeah!

    You clumsy ****.

Or if they are snapped flush a small drill and easy-out, the fixings are
around M6 from memory, I have either a mirror you can have or the
easy-outs and drill, mail me if you need them.

    Nigel Eaton says...
If they're not snapped flush, try winding two nuts on to the stub
and getting the spanner on the lower. Easier than mole grips and
    such.

Aye, that's it, I suppose. Given the choice of only having a car, or
only having a bike, it would be the car every time. It's fucking
horrible out there at the moment - there's absolutely no-way I'd take
the bike out at the moment.
