"Moto Guzzi again confirms its superiority by winning the second race
in the Battle of Twins 2007 and brings home trophy N° 3332.

Gianfranco Guareschi’s mission on the Daytona track ended in his second
consecutive win. This success crowns him as the winner of the Battle of
    Twins 2007.

He achieved his goal of repeating the 2006 victory after a hard-fought
and equally spectacular battle with Valter Bartolini over ten laps of
    the Daytona track.

A lightning start saw Guareschi ahead of Bartolini’s NCR Millona and
Marchetti’s Ducati 1098. The two leaders then fought for the lead and
swapped places 15 times in a race that left the 40,000 spectators at
    Daytona gasping for breath.

Guareschi surgically administered the coup de grâce on the last lap
when he drew alongside Bartolini on the exit to the Parabolica and took
the lead just before the chequered flag.

On the podium, a delighted Guareschi said: I came back to Daytona with
one goal in mind and I met it. It was by no means easy but I fought hard
for two long races and this win is my best so far. I would like to thank
the Moto Guzzi and Piaggio USA staff who supported me in this wonderful
event and I would especially like to thank the public for their backing
and for the enthusiasm they showed for Moto Guzzi.

Guareschi’s win in the Battle of Twins 2007 now takes Moto Guzzi to
a grand total of 3332 wins in international competitions. This success
celebrates the 50th anniversary of the last world title won by Keith
Campbell for Moto Guzzi in 1957.

not sure I like the pots hidden by that big mutha of a radiator, but I
suppose it can't be air cooled forever....

  3. The old Ariel Square four 1000 cc was air cooled, and in hot weather had
that slight problem of siezing the back pots, of course its other claim to
fame was dropping big ends through the sump.....

I had two friends in the fifties who both had these bikes, and both bikes
    were bought with smashed sumps......

at least they could have painted it black.

Beside the Boxer Cup (which does not count cos they are on a level
playing field) how many race bikes are shaft driven? I thought a
shafty had more lose in the drive train than a chain drive, therefore
the question must be asked would it be faster if it was a chain drive?

Its Guzzis solution to the problem of wheelies at the start and out of
corners, so it would be slower in terms of lap times.

Hrmm.. maybe they could make some kind of devious small radiator
    system behind the fairing opening...
Then again, this is Guzzi we're talking about..
