Oh well, maybe they like over-paid, work-shy, Geordie fuckwits.

Hey, I might even get a new lap-top.

I don't know why you think that.

If you're a big company using the majority of the resources of a
smaller company then it makes good sense to buy the smaller company
because you're both eliminating overheads and optionally also
restricting any access to the smaller company by your competitors.

Also, wouldn't a supplier buying its largest customer be more unusual?
That would strike me as an odd business plan.

Given the time-stamp on the news story I found out later than they did.

It's got to be better than literally, so that's a start.

it's a pity they're not properly changing the name, 'cos that's always
a nice easy way to get another bluechip employer's name on your CV.

You mean you only put a company's name on your CV if you've actually
    worked for them? How quaint.

I'm going to have to start doing that as a suspiciously large number of my
    ex-employers are no longer trading.

    For some reason.

I'm tempted to leave ANOL off next time, simply because I can't keep a
straight face when talking about them. I blame UKRM.

well, I've left two defunct outfits on my CV, because I'd have a hard
time explaining what I was doing for most of 2001 otherwise.

Never felt the need, TBH, but then I've never worked in
    double-glazing.

What exactly is the definition of 'blue-chip' anyway? A quick read
through of my CV reveals that I've worked for at least ten[1] that I'm
sure would qualify, and probably half a dozen more that might.

    Anyone beat that?

Allied Dunbar, Fisons, Tesco, Mars, ABN Amro...
