  2. That's taking the piss. It would be excessive even for a 350.

  3. stored for 25 years = seals are all dried out and need replacing, I bet.

mind, it is effectively a brand new one. However, they always looked more
    credible in red-and-white to me.

    ah, I see. Dealer prices.

With a set of silencers selling for 700 quid, I'd say it's worth buying
one and breaking it for spares. You did notice that they've got 1980 and
    1982 models photographed there.

And looking at their prices its not surprising they haven't sold anything
    since 1980.

  6. I wouldn't. OK, so what's in the want? Silencers, centre stands, air
boxes, seats, and some odd bits of trim.

Everything else is available new, or second-hand and recoverable.

When it's all there and from a brand new bike it'll sell. LC restorers
are as bad as RD400 ones for originality. A fair few of the bits have
been superceeded with non-original finishes etc, and getting a bike 100%
factory is a nightmare. Rear mudguards are impossible to find, as are
wiring looms and many other parts. Someone will buy the cases and frame
so they can have matching numbers with the original frame paint too.

  8. While I doubt anyone would, there's a pleasing madness in the concept that a
restorer would buy a brand-new, never used bike for parts to restore an old
one to factory spec. The sad thing is that someone might.

Well, people were breaking brand new imported bikes for spares, to
replace crashed bikes to new spec so there is a kind of a parallel.

However, fwiw I hope no one does break that bike. It should find its
    way to a museum really.

Hmm the RD400 isn't going to be factory original as you know but I think
it's good enough now to take to Pahnnd Island for the Centenary year
extravaganza. Should be a nice bimble around the course.

Get me in a set of new pistons will you ;o)

They have more than one. I hear they have something like 8 or 9 250LCs
in crates. Those ebay pictures are of two bikes, ones a 1980 two stripe
Black/red, the other is a 1982 three stripe Black/red/silver model.
