I like the Suzi, but that is only my OPINION! The ZX6 is a fuelie by
2001 isn't it? That would be a selling point for me if it was going to
    need tuning. (Track, race, mods.)
As far as tires; I can kill a set of D209's in 1 practice and 2 sprint
races. (Well, I would probably get better life out of a 600 as it
wouldn't spin up as easily.) Tire life is dependent on tire, setup and
riding style. The 'lops on my ZG last over 15,000 miles, I ride it
differently than the race bike. I replace them on the Duc more from age
than wear. (Light bike, light duty)

    YMMV

Please can any one help me I'm looking to change my bike for one of the
    following:-

    GSXR600 1999 or ZX6R J2 2001

And would appreciate any advice on what to look for in the way of defects
that may plague these particular models i.e. I have read that there are
problems with the GSXR cam chain tensioner on early models (anyone know if
it was fixed in this later model). Also apparently the GSXR likes to eat
tyres, anyone had experience of this and found a tyre combination that lasts
longer than the 1200 miles rear, 2500 miles front (MCN magazine) etc.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jason
