    I just bought a 2001 k1 (Black/Silver £4800) pick it up on Wednesday once
the workshop has given it the once over.

    1. Can anyone tell me if it has a factory immobiliser? It had a button on
the key which made it beep and the indicators flash. I couldn't see any
mention of an alarm in the handbook, but didn't look too hard.

    2. Can anyone put my mind at rest - my only memory of the short test ride is
how fiercely it took off when I twisted the throttle, please tell me that it
is not as bad as I remember and that I won't be drifting around wet corners
too afraid to touch the throttle.

    3. Any other tips? (After wednesday, it won't be ridden until March at the
    earliest)

    cheers

If it as bad as it seems, I would suggest that a skateboard may be out
of the question. I would therefore suggest a Triang Tricycle. In
    blue and white, of course.

Yeah, stop being such a wuss. This is the best time of year to ride
bikes IMHO, the roads are still grippy, the air is fresh, the hedgerows
are all trimmed and visibility is great, plus and there aren't half as
    many idiots on the road.

    Oh.

March you say? <shakes head and wanders off>

    have some spare time...

ahh, but how do you know until you try?
some people said a zx6r was not a suitable first bike, but I'm glad I didn't
    believe them.

ps. my question about the immobiliser is so I know what to tell my insurance
    company.

    I just bought a 2001 k1 (Black/Silver £4800) pick it up on Wednesday
    Oxford Harley Davidson (where else!)
There are 2 or 3 sub £5000 on autotrader this week.
If I was a better haggler I could probably have got it for less.

I see and hear this expression quite often. in fact, I've probably used
it. But, beyond an inkling that it's probably of medical origin, I don't
    know where it comes from.

    Anyone?

    Good price, how many miles?
Honestly Jim, try and get your money back, this bike is not right for
you. In fact any powerful bike is not right for you.
The GSX R1000 is very easy to ride quickly but you do need skill to ride
it fast. It's beautifully balanced but it can spit you off if you're not
    careful.
If you're frightened of it you will not enjoy it.
