Molly was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
Get an engine from a breakers?

I've managed to get out and have a look at my poorly sick GS500E
    today.

If you recall Gareth was on it and it broke down, he complained about
a vibration then it died. Initial inspection showed no compression on
the LH cylinder but ominously no piston movement either.

The exhaust bolts were seized up and nicely rounded so I welded some
allen bolts to them and pulled them out. I got the head off and it
looked OK with no bent valves. I pulled the block off and the LH
piston came off with it. It looks like a conrod decided to go for a
walk, or at least what's left of the conrod and piston. Damage I can
    see:

    Piston

Cylinder sleeve all busted up at the bottom.

    Conrod

Quite a few scratches on the crank

    A sump full of debris.

So, all in all a bit of a mess.

It's an "M" with just 17K on the clock and a fresh(ish) MOT. Is it
worth doing up or should I sell it on eBay?

He didn't over rev the engine did he?

Clean the sump up, weld up the broken cylinder crank pins oil feed and
    sell it as a GS250. :)

These are going for over 250ukp. The bike is probably not worth that.

Cheers mate, it's not worth the hassle in doing it up. I haven't got
the strength now to do this mechanical stuff anyway.

Mine did that to me on the M5 a few years ago. Sold it to a mate who
changed the engine and flogged it on again. It was only 2 years old at
    the time though.
