You're probably defending against the semi professional thief who cases
the area and goes out with a shopping list, your bandit was prolly
required for the frame to replace a bent one, or for motor parts etc...
unless you have a totally unique bike the methods I mentioned will
still work, as their standard tools are "portable" power tools (battery
    jobs) bolt cutters and crowbars.

CCTV and lighting helps a lot too, just make sure it can't be
vandalised prior to the scheduled theft.

since these thieves go around with shopping lists, you can also lose by
simply visiting someone overnight (happened to me in brum last year
with an xs11) it gets spotted and taken in the wee hours, so the
precautions I describe also make you friendly towards your guests.

BTW, in your case try google alerts, they even index ebay sales, you
never know it may turn something up.

    cheers

I've seen these at various shows. Nice piece of kit. Called the
something boot. I can dig out the flyer if you're really interested.

I was going to bolt in a ground anchor into the hardstanding, but then
threw out that idea in favour of chaining the bike to a large unwieldy
and heavy 5 feet square piece of box steel that sits behind my garage.

Easy to put in a tranny I hear you cry.

No, the chain passes through a hole in the garage wall, so they've got
to get the box steel through a 3" hole where the chain goes through. I
then chain the bikes to the chain.

Looks good (as it's hidden), and cost me a piece of chain and a FOAD
    padlock. (which I already had)

    Cheers

    Paul.

Ok, so I are thinking of pre-empting the thieving cunts and putting in a
Anywhere that sells RSJs etc. A couple of lengths around 18" or so of a
    hefty (You choose) size.
Hole at each end in the centre section of the "I" to enable concrete to set
through it and pass chain through other end.
A quality chain, insewerants approved should suffice from there, preferably
long enough to pass through substantial parts of the bike.
    Big FOAD approved padlock.
The steelwork could be sourced from anywhere doing a bit of demolition for a
chip into the Tea Boat to the geezer doing the demolition etc.

Let me know if you want to go this route and I'll let you know when I am
    over there

it, sunk below the surface of the concrete so they can't saw the eye bolt
is the method I used. I cut an old plastic bottle to shroud around the bolt
when set in concrete so that there's a tunnel large enough for the chain to
loop through the eye bolt after its all set nicely.

Ok, so I are thinking of pre-empting the thieving cunts and putting in
Put the 2 bits upright in the concrete 2ft apart with about a foot showing,
    Ride bike between them.
Affix chain through 'oles in uprights and lock off.

    Is *that* easier to understand?

Who ever said it was good? Just because half an hour has passed and
nobody has ripped you to pieces doesn't mean to say that when the night

No, I called you a twat and that was for not doing the cutting and
pasting thing, which makes it hard to follow the sense of some threads
especially when folks reading them don't. And it was Google Groups who
I suggested you should be calling cunts. Please pay attention.

You should see me wiv the wimmin.
