Grommets

At last! I've finally picked up the K1100. The first job was to remove the
awful stereo speaker carbuncle from the top box but of course this leaves
five holes in the lid that need plugging somehow.

Does anyone know where I can get some blind grommets that would do the job
in the following holes through the quite thick ABS.

    6mm dia. hole - 5mm lid thickness
    4mm dia. hole - 6mm lid thickness
    15mm dia. hole - 4mm lid thickness

Or how about any other weatherproof ideas that won't look a dog's breakfast?

Ashtays. No good tourer should leave home without them.
Vinyl, as seen on 70's cars?

Thanks for that. The daft thing was I'd already spoken to them on the blower
and the bloke never mentioned his website but merely suggested I drive from
Yorkshire to Sussex to see what they've got!

Checked the stock list out, they've got the stuff but a minimum order charge
of 25 quid plus 7 quid carriage! - just for five bits of rubber to do the
job and maybe a spare or two of each. Hmmm. Great eh?

Try Maplins for the grommets. The 15mm one may require a plate making up to
    strengthen it.

    Ooo, sweet.
If anyone ever does a gearing conversion I'll have another.

The Archers is the one thing I would scrap. I hate it.

I love it. I've been a very lucky lad with this - 5k miles in ten years
meant it felt like picking up a new bike, fresh from the showroom, and just
by handing over naff all dosh.

What sort of gear conversion? I have to admit that after my first journey
(170 motorway miles) to home, I felt that the power delivery could handle a
another top cog or just a top ratio change for a lower rev, high speed
    cruise.

Exactly what I mean. Another gear 15% higher or moving the whole box up 15%.
Cruising at 95 has the engine screaming along and it also destroys fuel
    economy.

I agree - but I did enjoy cringing at that saccharine twat Brian, when he
was shagging the mad Irish bint.

  14. Ring them back and tell them you are a buyer for xyz company and can you
have samples in the following sizes 6mm dia. hole - 5mm lid thickness 4mm
dia. hole - 6mm lid thickness 15mm dia. hole - 4mm lid thickness for QA
    testing ;)

    Might work

I've never forgiven them for scrapping Dick Barton just to put The
Archers on instead. It won't last I tell you.
