Following on from the press article recently that covered the various ANPR
systems being linked into a rather nasty surveillance system.

Took my friend Irene over to Scotland by Bandit on Saturday to collect her
1st bike (2001 GS500, v.nice!). Crossed to Cairnryan and rode up the A77 to
Newmilns. It would appear that a wonderful august body named the A77 Safety
Group *snort* has taken the world another inch towards madness. I saw some
28 SPECS cameras covering many miles of the route in sections of varying
speed limits, all sections appear to have turns in and out of the route
between cameras!! I don't know if they act as 14 separate sections or as a
    linked route.

It's like some Orwellian nightmare come to pass and a rather exotic lunacy.
Oh well, no rolling back the march of authoritarian mis-government, just
celebrate the silver lining. To the A77 SG and the steenkin' Scottish
Executive I say "**** You". As bikes still have no forward number plates I
took more than the usual pleasure in severely trashing your so called limits
   )

Hmm as it's likely that such schemes will proliferate I wonder when the old
chestnut of front facing plates on bikes will re-surface. No way will these
self righteous cunts leave us alone forever. I wonder why SPECS doesn't face
    the other way?

Err yeah? I break a speed limit every time I drive or ride. I doubt more
than a few percent of road users do otherwise.

Also ISTR that front number plates are a lot more readable. Where the rear
plate may get covered in dirt/road grime etc, the front tends to be
    self-cleaning whenever it rains.

I doubt that front plates on bikes will ever be required. After all,
statistics show that on SPECS equipped roads, motorcyclists never speed.

And the white lines - don't forget the white lines. The only
justification seems to be "there was a crash, therefore the road must
be dangerous". So the local authorities spend all their budget on 50
signs & white lines. I wonder how many crashes there have been over the
last week purely because the roads weren't gritted? But no doubt
they'll still be put down to "excessive speed", even though the roads
were nice & grippy for the previous 20 miles.

Meanwhile the people who had the crashes go off to hospital to get
their cuts & bruises seen to, only to die from MRSA.

You might laugh - someone I know very recently went in with a heart attack
and came out with mrsa. Poor sod.

Careful, you'll get someone telling you that you're just negative for
    thinking like that.

Ah yes you live down that road somewhere?
If I still owned a spas or lincoln autoloader one might be tempted to take a
    late night high speed drive....

I am reading now the council spend some £750,000 of public money on the
argument that each fatal RTA costs £1.5M. That latter figure is, of course,
    complete statistical bollocks.

Same thing happened in Suffolk on the route we use to visit the olds.
Everything that used to be a 40 limit has now been dropped to a 30,
everything that was a 50 limit is now a 40, and the rest has been
changed to a 50 limit. The only things they've left at NSLs are the
dual carriageway, except in one case where it's a 50 with a scamera.

What used to be a 1hr 15m journey is now 1hr 45m if you're lucky.
