Any thoughts out there on its practicality as a regional urban everyday
ride with maybe fortnightly South Coast NSW trips two up and quarterly
    longer runs?

Does it *need* riding hard or is it just more fun that way? :)
Will *not* wringing its neck regularly spoil it?
Any idea on average fuel use - without either lugging or flogging it all
    the time?
Other than "24 followed by three noughts", any downsides?

BTW, buying the Pegaso was a mistake.
The bike's good; we just don't really like each other.
    Cheers

The 8v motor is a bit less grunty than the 4v, but the one I rode
would be a perfectly fine urban bike. You'd probably want some
luggage and a screen. HepcoBecker seem to be the go for them.
Guzzis have a split personality. They are quite happy to pootle about
at low revs but once you get the revs above 5k they say "oh, you are
serious are you?" and get boogieing.
Nope. But it is more fun.
Nope, you'd need to ask an owner. I suggest you hop on to the forums
at guzzitech.com and ask there. Roper's sure to pop up and tell you
to buy one while swearing profusely at you and at it.

Servicing. You have to find someone with clue, and most of the people
with dealerships don't. If you are in Sydney you use Dave Ward, in
Brisbane it's Newell's in Adelaide it's Eurocycle, in Perth it's Mario
at Thunderbikes. I dunno who the goto person is in Vic but the Vic
Guzzi club will know. And of course Roper in the ACT.

pre-delivery is vital, you have to be sure that's done properly.
There's little things like the temperature sensor that have to have
the mounting checked, and it's important to manage the drive shaft
properly. The Norges had a famous problem with the fuel lines, I
dunno if the Griso has the same one, but get onto guzzitech, there's
heaps of very good Griso experience there.

You can do the minor services yourself. It might have 8 valves but
it's still a pushrod motor, and they are still out there in the
breeze. You will need a dealer for the fuel system unless you want to
spend big bucks on the laptop based software, but oil, brakes, valves,
all those are easy enough at home. PDFs of the workshop manuals are
    available on the net.

Pegaso Strada, Pegaso Factory or Pegaso Trail? (interested look).

Oh well.... the whole new bike thing has just gone into the 'dreaming'
bucket for the foreseeable future, ss I'll just have to find a way for the
Pegaso and I to get on better it seems! Cheers and thanks to all.
