No, he specifically said "people who don't want to work or push out a baby or
10", SO I think you'll have to remove the aged, veterans, people with
disabilities, the sick, youth allowance, other programs, aboriginal
advancement and an appropriate proportion of administration costs. So that
leaves families with children $24,600,000,000 the unemployed $5,433,000,000
and 3/8th of the administration costs, say 899,000,000 a grand total of
$30,942,000,000 which equates to only 16.5% of the $187,551,000,000 revenue.

I'm one of the lucky souls without private health cover.
Like most others who can't afford private health cover, I contribute to the
30% rebate to those who can afford it.
Naturally, I'm delighted to be a small part of such a fair and just system.

To an "efficiency expert", it bloody well should be.
No._You_wrote that, in your first reply. Some "process analyst", can't keep
    track of his own words.
Can't follow other people's, either, it seems... again.
The high-pricetag ho's at Crown Casino would, no doubt, agree.
Another is the inflated sense of accomplishment which leads one to think
    nothing of writing stuff like,
You and every other small mind with your outlook on life. Give you $10
million and you'll be a fuckwit with $10 million.

Stick to keeping your head buried down a cubicle. Going on everything you're
ever posted here, that might be the only thing in the world you've got half
a clue about... and even that's debatable.

    Who knows you?
Who can confirm you're not really a shift supervisor at a suburban KFC (they
have employee of the month, don't they?)?

Where the f*** are you guys getting it that cheap ? And do you actually get
anything for that ? Other than a bill if you're silly enough to say you've
got private cover when they drag your arse into a hospital ?
Yeah I did my bit a couple of years ago too :)

Even without a 30% rebate it would still be cheaper for me to sign up than
pay another 2.5% tax. Speaking of which IK, add in the X percent (4 or 5%?)
extra tax for HECS/PELS the bastards squeeze out of me.
Well, hey, don't blame me, I did my best to help change things

An analist writing people management software? That seems
    appropriate.
I'd recommend that you read "A Clergyman's Daughter" by George Orwell.
It'll give you a better appreciation of what life was like in the
    Good Old Days.

Most of the analysts I have met can at least spell "analyst"

Perhaps you should have done an IS course.

    Moike

(or maybe you *did* mean "analist")

Assistance to families with children is not only single parents so that
    number is likely to be
    a lot smaller.

Well, that won't last much longer, will it?

Either way, the original challenge was mostly thrown down just to get the
hot air squealing on escape from that particular gasbag again... and didn't
    it ever work a treat...

As far a getting taxed, though, it's a bit misplaced to complain about just
the sheer amounts of tax we pay when there are so many loopholes through
which so much of that tax can be clawed back come tax return time.

My problem with the way government finance, in terms of both collection and
redistribution, is run under the present system wouldn't be that the public
is gouged too severely, but rather that there's too much need for everyone
to devolve into money-grubbing rodents who fight government tricks with
    their own.

Like I said in response to Stan, the government realises that people claim
150,000km of work travel when they only did 15,000, and that that $140.00
Java textbook was really picked up in Goulds for $15 in 1997 and that it's
making its seventh appearance in a tax return. They expect people to be
cunts, so they go "OK, well, we'll just be cunts back. We're the government.
We can do that sort of thing.".

If they closed off these deduction loopholes and simply chopped the tax
rates, chances are_net_government revenues would be largely unaffected.
Granted, there'd be less scope for the government to play Monopoly with
money it had collected in tax but which it would soon have to pay back in
tax rebates and deductions, but that would be the trade-off for the highly
beneficial reduction for the need for cuntism in society.

There, that's what the socio-political strain of thought which currently
guides the evolution of Australian society should be called; cuntism. Howard
    & co are cuntists.

My hospital cover this year cost me $338. I claimed on it twice this year for
private hospital stays. My total out of pocket was about $650, Medicare
chipped in about $650 in refunds and my health insurer paid the balance, about
    $2400.

I think it's everyone's responsibility to prove that the Liberal system of
compulsory private hospital insurance is working by attempting to get value
    for money from their premiums.

http://www.iselect.com.au/ is good for comparative quotes.

I pay $117 a fortnight for top health care for my family.
and you should have seen all the bills when by daughter had her baby.

Next time she's not mentioning anything.

    Its a rip off.
