Grease

I have some grease for the suspension forks on my mountain bike. It's
sold by the fork manufacturer specifically for these forks. Now I
seriously doubt that they actually make the grease themselves so it's
got to be bought in and re-badged. Their stuff it 8 quid for 100g
which is pretty pricey when you see how much of it you need to fully
    service the forks.

Any ideas how I can work out what type of grease it is so I can buy a
generic version that's much cheaper? It's an oil coloured grease and
fairly 'lightweight', thinner than a bog standard white lithium
    grease.

Motorex, who make top quality motorcycle lubes make pushbike stuff too.
Their UK site does not list them though. Swiss site does:

Someone on one of the mtb forums suggested the Motorex grease as well,
saying they'd had good results in these particular forks.

Guess I'll be getting a pot of that then.

Mind you, I'll wait for the forks to come back from having the seals
    replaced under warranty first.

Pretty good apart from getting lost 5 miles from the end and adding on
a 2 miles of road and 2 miles of 1 in 10 up hill muddy bridleway.

Did the 50k in 4 hours, would have been 3 without the de-tour because
most of that was climbing the bridleway which was un-rideable.

Weather was good, only a little rain. Dunno if I could have done the
100k but felt comfortable after the 50. I think I'll be read for a
100 towards the end of the season. Got 4 more 50s, and a 75 and then
maybe a 100 to finish the year.

Cool. I was wondering how you were getting on whilst I was out and
about on the road bike on Sunday. Did a 110k loop from my place out
    to Church Stretton and back.
Which other events are you going to be doing?
I might fancy having a go at a couple and possibly
try to egg you on to having a go at some of the 100's.
If you can cope with the 50s already, you should be
    moving up the distances. ;-)
