I dunno nuffink but the scuttlebut was that Randy wanted him gone.
Pretty bizarre that the No2-in-the-world Grand Prix finisher would suddenly
retire at the very peak of his career but that's what happened with Croz in
    1982.
He entertained us with some legendary Castrol 6-Hour rides (and a few good
Bathurst drives) and even a Suzuka 8-hour win or two but he never went back
    to the GPs.

  6. Hi, Sturd. Thought that might have been one of my posts...

As I remember it, Randy supposedly wanted to be top dog in the
camp and refused to sign unless Cros was given the boot (or not taken
on?). Speculation is that this happened and Cros said "fuggit" and walked
away completely. After all this time, I can't prove it, nor even quote a
source, though it's a fair bet it was articles in the now-defunct "Revs"
Australian fortnightly. Google is proving unhelpful. Bummers might
    remember more.

  13. Do you remember that US magazine, Cycle World I think, that used
to have a moto-related picture inside the back cover each month, with a
humorous caption? One time it was a picture of a steep hill with a guy
(on foot IIRC) talking to a bloke on a motocross bike, "I bet my kid
brother can beat you to the top of the hill!" Meanwhile, on the other
side of the bike kid brother is sat on his minibike, turning the
    motocrosser's petrol tap...

According to Mat Oxley, it goes back to Crosby and a couple of other
Kiwi racers dunking a much younger Randy's head into a pub toilet after
he got a bit too big for his boots the night before a race in New Zealand.
