So does jacket icing. I had a nice thick ish coat of ice on my jacket
    after my ride this morning.

Blame it on the fact that I have some flu bug ATM, shivvers and all.
I know it was water crystals wot did it.
    I have jelly for brains.

No, I didn't, I just have jelly for brains today and shouldn't be
posting - see reply to Pip.
    I knew that really.
I knew that too. It was a real bugger on the KH125 I had for a while,
and just as yousay, it was worst on not quite icy mornings. ****, that
bike annoyed me. It cut out in the cold, cut out in the rain and
especially cut out when I was miles from home.

Perhaps I'll meet some chicks wanting it then, (hoping).

    Ah, just the chap.

While we're on carbs, my flatslides have the same carb heating[1] via
coolant as the CVs do, (a) do yours? (b) is it really worth the extra
    pipework to plumb it in?

Presumably my first thought "try it without and see what happens" is
    safe enough anyway.

[1] well, they've got holes where the coolant connectors go on the CVs.
I'm assuming it's actually possible to fit them, as I haven't tried.

That's how they usually work on aircraft. It's why you shouldn't use
carb heat on a grass strip if you can avoid it - unfiltered air..

    Champ :
ZX7RR carbs, new, unused, fresh out of the wrapping, including import
duty and vat and postage 500 quid.

Don't fit the standard airbox as such, but with a couple of
modifications (to the airbox) they'll be fine. They have the float bowl
pressurisation tubes fitted, so I don't need the all encompassing box,
I'll just plumb them in to the front away from the bell mouths and
probably add some damping (al la carb tune kits) too.

Don't worry about it, I'll follow my plan and see how it goes. Plus,
it's going to be January before I finish it at this rate...
