    No problem.

    Then:

    Now:
    http://www.sweller.dynalias.org/turbo2/

Although the second set aren't wonderful as reference pictures they might
be helpful. It would be very useful to have some from Champ's bike,
particularly the clocks and fairing inner area (for me).

I'd also be interested in why my machine has a black rear wheel.

Is yours the one that used to belong to Will Grainger?

If so: he crashed it, bending/breaking the rear wheel, and got a
    replacement from a breakers, IIRC.

  3. Ah that's a bit better. What's wrong with that exhaust?

HTF did he manage that - the bending rather than the crashing bit I can
    do that.

I wonder how much a red one will be?

It's the same one but painted. It's still cobbled on with an air chisel
gouge up the link pipe and flaps about like the damaged, badly attached,
rusty, overweight, steel exhaust it is.

Are they the same size as the unitrak GPz550 wheels?

If so then I've got a red one in the shed that I've been meaning to
    ebay...

  7. Think he hit a kerb with the wheel, I saw the bike when it was parked at
Ginges waiting for a wheel. Seem to remember it being a bit "scruffy".
You probably already know but try 750turbo.com, seem to be people on
there with parts. I'll drop a mail to my seller, he had a garage full of
stuff, didn't see any wheels though.

  8. might be relevant that it seems to be the RHS of mine that's smoking.

now, do I get the heads refurbed with new valve guides (which is, I suspect,
what's needed) or do I hunt a second-hand set of 750 barrels, pistons and
heads (or, more likely I suppose, 800) for it. Decisions, decisions...

He ran out of luck on a corner that tightened up while on a rideout at
Lozfest in April 2002 IIRC. He picked it upright and ran it up a high
kerb and across the verge which fucked both wheels and tyres. He got
replacements from Barton Motors I think, one of which was a normal
    GPZ750 wheel.

ISTR they weren't all that much from Sherlocks, but the exhaust valve
    was about 40UKP - ouch!

I got them done, rather than DIY. It's not supposed to be too
complicated, but I didn't want to risk cocking it up and the seats
    needed re-lapping, etc.

I'll find out. What size tyre has it got? As good as place as any to
    start.

    Good oh.

Dunno off hand - I'll wander out tomorrow & have a look.
Shame the 550 bodywork doesn't fit - I've got a pile of that as well.
And some switchgear. And who knows what all else - I found 2 cylinder
heads, 1 head gasket but only 1 exhaust gasket last time I went
    rummaging for Kawa bits...

Up the road - Brights Autos on Filton Ave. The do quite a lot of that
stuff for cars. Came back fine, but all the little charges add up to
    quite a bit.

Ah. Not a million miles away.

I'm in two minds as to whether I should do all the stuff I know is going to
need doing, or just polish the thing up and out it. Tending towards the
    latter atm.

  18. having read the book, I was planning on getting mine done, too - the guides
are fitted with the head hot, or something.

Still wondering about making it bigger...

  19. ah, well, that's the luck of the draw. If I stay with the 600cc I'll get
the heads done and know that they're right - the point is whether to make it
    bigger...
