I may pop over and have a look at a GPZ750, later.

Condition is claimed to be excellent <examines back yard full of salt>,
    tax ,mot.

So why £495, if it's so good?

    It's on an A-reg, so 1984(?)

    No idea of mileage.

Anyone give me some pointers towards any potential faults?

I may go for a look at a 1981 CX500, too. Again tax and mot - daily use.
Again, no idea of mileage. £450.

    Insomnia is a bitch.

It'll also have either a rotted out exhaust system or an aftermarket
replacement that makes it run like shit.

There's also a high probability that the suspension linkages will be
fucked out of sight and that'll mean a days work putting them right if
you want to do the job yourself.
Would you pay £450 for a 1981 Escort van? By buying a CX500 you'd be
buying it's equivalent because some **** will have despatched it at
    some point in its life.
    Try booze and sleeping pills.

  3. The GPz750 is a great bike. Mehanically, really solid, as you'd expect.
Goes well, economical, fun, and even handles well in a sort of
stiff-legged way (wants to go in a straight line all the time, so needs
    musclling through corners).

Usual things to look for - shagged suspension, etc. Anti-dive is better
blanked off. Check the silly triple-decker instrument panel is working
properly. Funnily enough, I've bid on a few GPz750s on Ebay. I'd like
    one.

The CX will probably be a waste of time.

Movement would need what, to fix it?

    Bearing? "bit of metal"?

What sort of cost to fix?

    A few, then. ;-)
    I suppose so, yeah.
I have a man who would relish the task.

    Thanks.
