GPS and coordinates

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Paul Carmichael, Apr 19, 2008.

  1. Is my GPS crap on its own or do they all show coordinates in decimal
rather than deg/min/sec.x like all maps?

Nope, some have the option to show the location in other formats.

  3. Our Garmin Etrex can display in both of those formats IIRC, and british
OS grid too. What is your GPS?

  4. It's a Supratech Galatea with software miomaps or somesuch. Both the GPS
software and the map software show decimal. Can't find any way to change
    it.

I've just taken advantage of the £/$ exchange rate to update the mapping on
my Garmin 2610 so have it to hand.

    It seems the format is N 50deg51.098min E 2deg53.251 min and I can't find
anything in the options to change it to decimal.

Mapsource, the accompanying software for route planning on your PC, can use
    about 30 different formats.

Indeed it did. Not exactly those words translated to spanish, but I got
there - and that's just what GPS is all about.

    To the mountains!
