One of my AS MX boots cracked clean in half across the sole one day when out trailriding. Needless to say I won't be buying anymore of their stuff anytime soon. -- Krusty www.MuddyStuff.co.uk Off-Road Classifieds '02 MV Senna '03 Tiger 955i '96 Tiger '79 Fantic Hiro 250
I thought you claimed you were wearing the Swift boots? Not that it matters; I'm sure you know my thoughts.
DR says... I was once told by Gavin "It is politically incorrect to crash in clothing we don't supply, George will not be happy if he finds out you wear a competitor's kit when out on your bike", so Swift Torsion-X boots is what they were told I was wearing. Truth be known I pretty much always wore the A/stars Tech 3 boots on the Bandit. The Akito X-Force leathers I was wearing at the time did survive the accident well, until the ambulance crew got the scissors out.
Yes, I got the remains some time after. I wear WTF I like; I didn't pay £190 for a pair of Daytona Road Star GTX boots for them to sit there, and I do like my Crowtree leather trous' that I won - must save up so I can get a matching jacket [1]. Then again I'm not selling the stuff. [1] Must also lose some weight so I can get into the bloody things again!
DR says... I'm wearing all the kit I was wearing before working for them. Gericke w/proofs, MJKs leathers, Daytona boots and Held gloves. I've even resorted to using a Uvex lid because after 2 1/2 years of completely fog free Nitros this bloody N1400 now I have mists like a bastard in cold weather. I love the lid otherwise, but it aint so good when there's damp in the air. My N800 never misted up, not once. I have to admit that my MJK trousers are a bit of a squeeze to get on, and I had them made a size larger when I was measured for them. Same with my Gericke w/proof ones, which are size small. Maybe I should lose a few pounds.
My N1200 seems fairly resistant to fogging up. I can't get on with the N1400, even in XXL it's too short (front to back) for my thick skull - I keep kissing plastic. It'll be interesting to see how the new N1600s perform. I'll have to acquire one for evaluation.
DR says... What's the new 1300g fibreglass one I saw on the Takachi stand, it looked vaguely N1600ish and very well made? I didn't take a close enough look at the new range when I was on the Expo stand talking to my old colleagues. I'm assuming it's made by your lot as all the other Takachis are.
I'm assuming that's the forthcoming N1700. I haven't seen any of those yet. There's also a new flip-up, the F346, which looks a lot like the N1600 and could be mistaken for a normal full-face at first glance. The new stuff is a serious step up in quality IMO.
DR says... The flip-up is one of the ones I did take a look at, it's really well made and stylish. My only criticism is the lack of a dark drop-down visor like the competition have - that's what everyone buys the Caberg for, not it's famed build quality, or lack it. I'd expect sales to reflect the lack of the drop-down. The Takachi I saw wasn't a flip-up, it was a very highly specced full face in fibreglass, not poly like the N1600.
Yeah, that'll almost certainly be the aforementioned N1700 then; it's the only forthcoming lid I know of which I haven't seen yet.
DR says... Great, the competition get it on the retailer's shelves before the people who make it for them. Fantastic planning and I'm sure my old buddies are delighted with that. Are you getting clues as to why I aint there any more?
Not too bad, and you... I kind of have two battles going on, one with the sugar and another with the pies and beer that it hides in )
