From BFM in Shipley, Frank Thomas, not a brand I would consider
normally. The reason I bought them is they where in a sale & I only
paid £350 for a full zip together set made from Kangaroo leather. They
also fit me, at 6' 3" which was the definitive reason for purchase ;)
Very nice too & the right price.

Got a pair of Alpine Stars GSX boots too, for £150, saved a fair bit
really, all me summer leathers etc sorted. They have loads of gear
going cheap, as they are doing major alterations to the shop & need to
    shift some gear.

Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Frank Thomas *and* kangaroo leather
    - could there *be* a worse combination?

Please explain? They seem very decent & pretty well made. Remember how
much i paid, i could see your point if it was £495 as they would have
    been.

It's interesting to read Paul Varnsverry's views on kangaroo leather.
Apparently the only kangaroo hides worth using for bike kit are from
animals culled later in the day. They degrade so badly as the dead
animals sit in pick-ups in the heat that hides from animals culled in
the morning become next to useless for protective clothing.

I can't see the likes of FT paying for anything like decent quality
hides, but they can legally state they use kangaroo and will take
advantage of all the good publicity that good kangaroo hides have had.
It's a shame more punters aren't as clued up as we've become here with
Paul's help and advice, it'd put paid to dodgy practise and raise the
standards of bike kit no end if people just walked away from the crap
they've had offered to them for so long.

I did a web search on them & didn't get any horror stories. I'm not
really one for wet riding in leathers anyway.

AlpineStars SMX you say? Made from a material called Lorica which
A/stars claim is as good as leather. Why don't they make race suits from
    it then?

I don't think I need to explain - everyone else seems to have it pretty
much covered. Just to give you a taste of what's to come though, I
bought some FT leathers years ago before I saw the light. The jacket
zip had to be replaced twice within the first few weeks, & the
stitching fell apart at an alarming rate. I'm extremely grateful I
    never crashed in it.

I suggest you consider thinking up a good excuse to return yours for a
    refund.

Sounds like i wont have to! I have had a very good look at them, they
seem decent quality, but I have no experience of FT stuff.

Cheers for your assistance in the matter/debacle.
