Got a nail in the tyre on the weekend which isn't good :(

fortunately it wasn't going down so left it in and decided to try
out the trusty repair kit today for some experience for when I am stuck in
    the middle
    of no where

so all in all ok pull out nail bout 4 inches long (**** where did that come
    from)

open kit , read instructions and have a go at fixing it , the plugs that I
    got were little rubber
oval type ones which were useless , couldn't get em in the tyre without
    breaking
so removed wheel and will head to shop tomorrow where I got kit from and see
    what they have to say

so if you have a kit have a good look at it and if ever possible have a go
at using it before you REALLY need to

what about the stuff in a can thats supposed to fill the tyre with some sort
    of foam that hardens

does it work ? does it work tubed and/or tubeless ?

    anyone used it ?

    yes used it
makes a mess of tubeless rims - takes ages to remove from the rim.

Also used it on dirt bikes with some success - made a fast leak into a slow
leak though - never really fixed it.
    $10/can compared to $12/tube - tube = safer bet

could use it as an emergency
    nope

but from what I have heard it makes a big mess inside the tyre which is a
    bitch
when you get the tyre changed

    Not tubed.

    Yes but I'm not proud!
(I made it about 5km which was enough to get me to a servo)

  8. There are two tricks to using most of the tubeless repair kits: 1) ream the
hole out with the tool supplied, don't leave it small; 2) use heaps of the
    glue supplied as a lubricant.

  9. I've had that stuff work in a tubed tyre just fine, glued the tube to the
inside of tyre though (found out when the tyre was due to be changed)

Used the same kit that you have and it worked just fine the first time but
12 months later and the rubber donuts had perished and fell apart when i
tried to install them (all 3}.Bought some red cord type tube repair plugs
from supercheap and used the kit tool to install one.$6 for a pack of
5.Plugs been in for 6 months and no probs.

Used it twice, worked both times, easy to clean out when you get the
tyre properly fixed. Not a perminant fix though...use it to get to a
tyre shop and then get the job done right.

The patch kits for tubeless tyres require some practice, I could not
get it to work on my first try...did not use enough glue. Next time I
    will know better.

    Most likely a builder's ute.
My word. Same with a tubed tyre.

well prob solved today, took wheel off bike and headed off to shop
where got puncture kit in the first place and they fixed me up with
some rope type plugs and fixed it up easy enough

so all good again and have plenty of spares for future nails

  19. I learnt the lesson about those bastard little oval jobbies the hard way.
(Stuck in, well, no so much the middle of nowhere, but somewhere between
    there and a bikeshop.)

No amount of the glue as a lube was going to get the little thing into the
    whole.

I now have the bullet type plugs. Haven't tried it yet. Will try it next
    time I get a puncture.
