Got a bike, tape measure, & a spare 10 minutes?

If so, help! My Fantic has currently got a K&N cone filter in the
airbox connected to the carb with a Ford Escort steering gaitor. This
is obviously far from ideal for *so* many reasons.

The original carb-to-airbox boot is long gone, & I haven't got a chance
in hell of getting an original one. In fact as it's a Hiro 250 engine
in a Fantic RC125 frame, I don't even know what it would've had
originally. So I need to find one off another bike that's close enough
    to modify. The dimensions are:

Carb mouth outside diameter - 63mm

    - This needs to be very close, or maybe a bit larger.

    Airbox hole - 85mm

    - I can increase/decrease this without too much problem.

Top of airbox hole to top edge of carb mouth - 41mm

Bottom of airbox hole to bottom edge of carb mouth - 62mm

    - These need to be pretty close - longer's ok but shorter
probably isn't. The measurements are just to the end of
the carb i.e. they don't include the bit of the boot that slides
over the carb inlet. So the total length needs to
be at least 15mm longer than the above measurements.

Vertical offset - 0 (i.e. the carb is level with the airbox hole when
    viewed from the side).

Horizontal offset - 15mm (when you look down from the top, the
centreline of the carb is approx. 15mm to the left of the centre of the
airbox hole - so the boot needs to have a kink/bend).

    - It would be nice to get close to these offsets, but I can
fibreglass over the airbox hole & cut a new one if I have
    to.

If anyone can spare the time to measure up their bike, it would be
hugely appreciated. Beer & curry vouchers to anyone who says "SNAP".

Have a word with your local hydraulic hose supplier....Someone like Pirtek.
A cut-off of convoluted hose might do the trick....

Sounds like you need some 2 1/2" bore tube. Pretty standard stuff, try a
commercial vehicle scrapyard. Take a hacksaw.

I used a couple of pieces of radiator hose (van or light truck ISTR) from an
auto factors 'stuff I don't know what vehicle it comes from & I'm never
going to sell' bin. Ask 'em if you can take a look through their old hoses.
The ones I got for the Guzzi are approx 65mm ID at one end and have a flare
out to ~85mm at the other. They were about 300-350mm long when I found them,
but had to cut them down to about 100mm long so I could get the 38mm
Dellorto PHM38s on the old Spada.

Do proper old-style scrapyards exist anymore? All the ones I know of
round here are boxed & shelved parts only - no rummaging round like the
    good old days.

I've tried the local ones (that I know of) without any luck. Time to
    fire up yell.co.uk methinks.
