As opposed to "stupid-looking ****", which is what you are at the
    moment.

I suggest that you try to discuss his policies and principles, and you
    might fare a little better.

Leave personalities, and looks, out of politics.

Ben Blaney emerged from their own little world to say
    Heh

The beeb were doing a voxpop in blue rinse constituencies after Howard
announced his intention to quit as Tory leader. David Davies has the
popular vote with the old bags as, "he's a very nice man and awfully good
    looking".

    Very possibly.
Unless he's changed drastically in the last few years, his policies
are hideously distasteful to me. Which of them appeals to you?
Bullshit. Have you seen the merry-go-round that is city boardroom
    seats?

I didn't say it was "right". I was refuting the point made by A.Lee
    (that you didn't attribute).

    Please read before replying.

    What about it?
    Why does it appeal?
    What policies? Why?
Right. So without any fucking knowledge of something, you're quite
willing to state, "any private employer" blah blah blah.

You'd probably do better keeping quiet, old son.

So you have asked why and what yet you still have no knowledge about private
    employers.

    You fucking prick.

Does this sentence make sense? Because I've read it three times and I
don't know what you're getting at.
Oh, I see; you're a troll. You're just popping up in different
threads trying to upset or annoy me. It'll take a lot more than a
    cretin like you, I'm afraid.

    Now **** off.

Oh dear, prick. Just realised you're short, fat and ugly? It's something
we've all known about for years. We forgive you, fucktard, it's not fault
you were born. Is your mother ugly, too, prick or is it something you've
    been working on?

  16. 365 tons of gold (for Champs benefit = "it is from memory" I could be a
few tons out) sold to support his policies and he bought 60% dollars 20%
yen (pegged to the dollar) 20% euros with it. All just before the dollar
    went down the tubes.

So most of the family silver flogged off and money that got for it has
    lost 60%(approx) of it's value.
I think he's as smarmy as Hague.

There is neither honour nor satisfaction in a battle of wits against
an unarmed opponent. (I'm fairly sure I'm screwing up one of Oscar
Wilde's finest with that line, but can't find a reference.)

    The HO Christmas party referred to in Benn's book was open to activists;
I used to just turn up. It was no secret.

Other big dos were advertised such as the summer BBQ (where it always
pissed down). The 'infamous' BBQ was a personal event for SB and MB.

    Making the New Labour lot jittery is easily done at any of the lobbies;
TUC fringe meetings; the floor of the Party conference or any open event
where those people will be reinforcing their movement credentials.

TBH you do have to either be elected to a position or work at it to get
in a situation that gives you any leverage. Although the open lobbies
are good VFM - recently it was Mail on Rail but seeing them squirm over
the LUL PFI was entertaining. It was close; we nearly did it. A reduced
Blairite majority may have some advantages.

  20. I think he means, in the context of some one who is not actually trained
in what he or she does and then has to learn on the job and as such is
tolerated as long as they perform within certain guide lines.

I think that it the correct definition of any minister with a few
    exceptions.

Having a degree in law[1] or liberal studies[1] does not an
    "entrepreneur" make

[1] Too many lawyers in government in my opinion[3].
[2] A group term given to degrees[4] (by a Prof. at UKC) that have no
direct use in the scheme of things unless a position is artificially
    created for them.

[3] "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers."
William Shakespeare, Henry VI part 2

[4] Usually the easiest to get with the smallest amount of
    "intelligence"
