Umm ... let me clarify this ...

You intend to head down the GO Road, mid morning, during school holidays.

    Good luck! You'll need it!

    Cheers

There are plenty of overtaking opportunities between every corner.

I'm glad I don't take your advice... Ended up going the long way, 35km of
Metro Ring Road and Western Hwy out to Rockbank then back roads through
Exford, Balliang, Anakie, Shelford, Winchelsea, Deans Marsh to Lorne. Lorne
to Apollo Bay... stuff all traffic, in the 44km I probably had to overtake
fewer than 20 cars/mini busses along the way. Apollo Bay to Lavers Hill and
return, 100km & < 10 cars, Apollo Bay back to Lorne was a bit busier, but most
of the traffic was heading towards Apollo Bay, then home again via Deans
Marsh, Cape Otway Road, through the Brisbane Ranges to Ballan then back via
the freeways. Just under 700km for the day. :)

The previous bit would be a good ride ...
The following bit also would be a good ride.
It's all a matter of perspective. Dodging 20 cars would be more than I
    am used to ...

Yes, it is a matter of perspective. If you'd been there you'd only have
encountered half that number. I'd say at least half of the traffic I caught I
passed without breaking stride, and the rest I passed right after the next
corner. The worst of the lot were the posse of 4 rent-a-harleys I saw
wobbling their way across the double lines.

I expect 8km of lanesplitting stationary/slow moving traffic on the western
ring road wouldn't have been your cup of tea either :p

Never really had to contend with it. Hobart traffic doesn't count[1] and
from home, I do a right, left, right and with 2km on the clock I am in
the country, with what passes for hills in this pancake state.[2]
