  1. Anybody know when the Chimay weekend is this year? Looking at last years
dates it was mid July. Planning ahead this year to try and make sure I
    can go.....

Austin Shackles. www.ddol-las.net my opinions are just that
"The breezy call of incense-breathing Morn, The swallow twittering
from the strawbuilt shed, The cock's shrill clarion, or the echoing
horn, No more shall rouse them from their lowly bed."

    That's a bit late...

Still, I'll have had my fun at the beginning of the month - getting
    pissed in Bavaria.

If everything drops into place, that is...

Yeah, but, come the day, you'll announce that you can't afford the petrol or
    something.

June suits me better than July, too.

550 miles from Calais - maybe I'll leave the CBX at home for this one.

Would it be unreasonable to want to do both?

  15. I've got to do a top-end rebuild on the bike first. Or should that be
    "side-end" on a boxer?

it's burning too much oil these days. suspect either rings or valve guides
    or possibly both.

now, if someone had a nice set of 750cc barrels, pistons and heads for a
    mid-70s boxer I could be tempted :)

but in practice, I'll probably rebuild it as is.

Top-end on a boxer is easier than rear wheel on a Wing.
Does it smoke from the left after it's been on the sidestand?
I've got a set of rings in the shed, but they're for an 800.
Dismantle, brush out cobwebs and mouse droppings, wipe over with rag and
    reassemble. Job done.

That's the way my thoughts are running. I'll need something sensible for
Chimay to transport the sprog, but Schleiz is in term time, so I'm free to
    use anything I feel like.

  18. hehe. yeah, it is easy. nice warm day and a comfy cushion to sit on...
no, mostly from the right pot, and after being on over-run. I did change
rings some time ago but it might need doing again, also the heads are known
to be iffy. If I can afford it I'll get a rebuilt pair of heads.
    hehe.

Rule of thumb: smoking under power is rings, on the overrun is valves.
