More likely that the server at Google receiving your requests is fubared. Will is likely to have been on a different one. Something like Google will be running on a huge number of servers I would imagine. Depending on how they've configured their load sharing, you could always end up on the same one.
Something like 3000 of them last time I looked. We were seeing the same thing in the office and somebody asked me to fix it.

I had a nasty moment there when the error came up. A whimpering 'no, don't be broken, I need you' reaction. But it is back now. Phew.
