still apt to get broken somewhere along the line, and the canonical form
above works fine. pity eBay instead of pratting about with anonymising the
process so no-one can get any useful info about the other bidders (except
the seller...) put in a litte button "create link 1to this item" which did
one like the above which you can paste into an email without problems.

Personally, I find the newfangled "bidder 1, bidder 2" shite a retrograde
step - I don't see that any anonymising is beneficial, any more than
"private feedback" - which to me defeats the object.
