    X-No-Archive:

Regulars here will know me as Andy Clews from the University of
    Sussex.

After 25+ years, the plug has been pulled on the JANET Usenet service,
and I am now forced to use an alternative (Google groups, and/or
possibly the one provided by my ISP), so you won't see any more
postings from me with my Sussex address (the one that mentions
    dentures).

  3. Same problem for me at Brunel; I'm test-driving aioe.org but it's
losing too many posts for my liking.

Hope they don't pull your job as well, like they did to me the same day!

eternal-september seems to be the best free one by a country mile.

  5. Yeah, I'll probably sign up later this week once I've finished
tweaking my CV. Contemplating the problems of losing my main mail address
    soon, too.

Certainly works for me, although Ivan earlier pointed out one missing
post, which I didn't see either.

Aye. I use it as my upstream server and the (very) rare downtimes are
    quite acceptable.

Oh, f*ck! Very sorry to hear that.
I seem to be safe for the moment, but who knows what lies around the
    corner.

Well, I've set up an account on "the German server",
    news.individual.net, which has an
annual 10 Euro subscription, and I'm using Thunderbird to post.

And it seems I am able to keep my dentures after all :)

Thus spake Andy Clews () unto the assembled multitudes:
....and now I've managed to reconfigure 'tin', so I'm basically back to where I
    was before. Bliss (at a cost of 10 Euros per annum, what the heck)! :-}

I'll second that - and their support team are spot-on too.

Further, you might investigate Paston Chase - www.paston.co.uk - Linux
    friendly crew.

(No, I don't profit from referrals AFIK)

So I hear, but they seem to be rather lax about signing you up. I made
an enquiry and it took a week for them to reply to my emu, by which time
I'd been with infernal september for five days.
