good route San Jose -> Auburn ?

  1. 49er rally's moved back to Auburn this year and I plan on attending.

Looking for a good route up and back.

32/Del Puerto Canyon or 84 might be a nice start but I'd be
    appreciative
of a route suggestion from there to hook up with rte 49 using as little
    freeway as possible.

    Thanks

    Rob Kleinschmidt.

  3. Starting from Los Gatos. What I'm wondering about though is the
best (most interesting) way to hook up with 49. From the point
where you hit 5 it's hard to find roads that aren't hot, straight and
    boring.

I'm not sure that there IS a scenic raod across the Valley, but I would
tend to take 130 over Mt.Hamilton to Del Puerto, then over to Modesto
and catch 132 to 49 at Coulterville.
    Have fun!
I'm going to be heading for Carson City on the 19th, then across 50 to
Delta, Utah. From there we (my dad and I) are giong to Lake Powell for a
    week of houseboating.
