I wish my vote would actually make a difference but living in what I
believe is the 2nd safest Tory seat in the country, then the only effect
my cross will have is on the size John's majority.

If only the electorate as a whole supported your views eh?

Oh i thought you were on about Prince Ranier snuffing it, all we need is
the queen for the hat trick.

Yes, but if you'd posed the question "Is dribbling socially acceptable?"
to your sample the answer would still be 100% yes.

In that sort of situation, I've alwys thought that at least some intent
    is registered.

The size of the majority might make the MP consider what policies he
should be supporting. Also, over time, others might be encouraged to
come out of the woodwork and vote.

Probably all bollocks, but it's wha tI told myself to feel good about it.

That was certainly my view when I lived in Wiltshire (Kennet).

In the Euros PR actually worked in this situation. Our Euro
constituency is only marginally less Tory than Westminster but I was
able to register a *real* vote against, which did matter in the overall
scheme of things. Not that I am speaking in favour of PR mind but it
    alters the arguments a little.

Voting on issues is the Californian way. Make of that what you will.

    AOL.

Though I might vote for the Socialist Labour Party, if there's a
    candidate.

I sometimes wonder if things might be a bit more accoutable if we held
rolling elections, rahtr than the big bang type. If you re-elected say
1/4 of parliament a year, would poeple be more willing to vote for who
    they wanted?

As an alternative to PR, that is.

  14. They got my vote last time, and in the local elections, and we have a
LibDem MP (who's rather good) and a ditto council.

I reckon they'll get my vote this time as well. At least they're agin
    the bloody ID cards.
