    "
A 39-year-old Collaroy man was subsequently charged with 62 traffic
offences including 31 counts of using a vehicle not complying with
class A number plates and 31 counts of exceeding the speed limit (5
counts of exceeding the speed limit by less than 15km/h, 16 counts of
exceeding the speed limit by more than 15km/h and 10 counts of
exceeding the speed limit by more than 30km/h).

    "

...and he was riding a Harley.

    http://jillianskinner.com/Media/Press_Releases/Skinner_congratulates_top_cop_200709.html

He wasnt speeding 2000 times..he covered the plate at various
    locations around Sydney..toll gates..speed cameras..etc.

Having a front numberplate would have made no difference.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I also noticed that it took the coppers 16 months to start an investigation
as to who the offender was

Or the RFID tag in the microwave as it were, if only for a couple
    of seconds.

    Up that bloody treacherous hill?

Shenanigans is right. But then when you read that whole article,
you've found several glaring errors (I prefer 'deliberate
misrepresentations of fact'). The whole article is riddled with
    cancerous bullshit.

If a government and a police force, both already shown to be corrupt and
ridden with criminals, will lie and wildly exaggerate their case to such
an extent just to get at motorcyclists on such a small thing, consider
the case these same people have made for draconian "bikie" laws that
    don't even mention bikies...

UnZud is looking good these days...

Don't just take my word for it. The cameras were installed 4.5 years
ago and it was widely reported in the media. http://tinyurl.com/mfv7yj

It doesn't say much for the force as a whole when, they can't apply any
real detective work to catch a bloke who seems to be performing some
sort of repetitive law-breaking over a long period of time, but then
they actually give an award to the cop who catches him by accident while
off duty. By the cop's own admission, the biker was speeding, and he
followed him, thus, I think it's a fair bet that the cop sped unlawfully
to pursue him and identify him. I wonder how many children died as a
    result of this.

I got 3 "unidentified" which appear to be "we think it was
your tag but can't be sure" and 2 "we had to pay the RTA to match your
    numberplate" ones.

I've also been through on other days and not been charged.

Yep; Unzud is looking real good ANY day!
I was very seriously contemplating moving there a year or two ago (South
Island) and it was only my fairly narrow employability-scenario that was a
    dampener.
Just got back from 10 days in the North Island and I still love the place
('though I have zero interest in Rugby!) but the South Island is more my
    style.
I also have the Hervey-Bay retirement plan in place so I'm not short of
"f#ck it; I'm outta' here..." options.

Harold Scrubby tarred and feathered might be useufl as a speed bump.
"The motorcyclist lost 200 points." Even if he lost two million, it's
still the same initial result as losing twelve, although *possibly* he
might not get the two points provisional licence option!

Not to mention the "nearly 70,000 last year" bit, when that was the total
for the previous seven years. Goose.

    ...and who still remembers this?

In 1986, while Mr Scruby was driving to his father's birthday party, he
hit a jogger with his Mercedes in Mosman and was charged with a serious
    driving offence.
After a lengthy court case, he was exonerated of the charges but admits
the experience was a “harrowing time”.

“It certainly made me realise that each party on the road had a
responsibility,” Mr Scruby said. Manly Daily, 18/05/02

  19. That's a nice one to throw back at him
Interesting to find out exactly how he got off the charge
Was it because of what he knows or who he knows?

Someone should show Mr Scruby how to use Google Search.

    "
“How ironic is it that Australia led the world in abolishing front
numberplates in the late 1970s due to a pedestrian being fatally-
injured by a motorcycle numberplate in a crash?”

“We’d encourage member of the Pedestrian Council board to read the
Victorian strategy, and join us in welcoming such a positive and
enlightened measure aimed at addressing all the concerns and issues
surrounding another group of vulnerable road users.”

“Far more could be achieved if the PCA worked with groups such as the
AMC rather than continued to take cheap, misguided shots at the ever-
increasing number of people who ride motorcycles and scooters,” Mr
    Lennard concluded.
