I bought it because it was a different set-up to the norm and it looked
like this type of arrangement might suit me better for year round use.
In summer I rarely put the liner in and haven't really needed
waterproofing, but the waterproof membrane on my old gear does make the
jacket that little bit more uncomfortable when the temperature rises,
    even with vents opened.

This jacket is a proper lightweight summer jacket with the liner out,
but whenever I've used it with the liner in this winter, or when it has
rained, I've been impressed with the warmth and waterproofing qualities.

So far I am very happy with it.

    @news.eternal-september.org:

Not really. My Hein Gericke Cruiser is an outer fabric jacket that is not
waterproof. Inside that is a waterproof layer made from goretex. It is
permanently attached to the outer layer but could be worn as 2 separate
    layers.

I suspect such liners may be more prevalent in a decent climate, like,
AIUI the one enjoyed by Kevin.

I've never left anything that's not waterproof in the outside pockets
of any of my jackets anyway. Two of the pockets are inside the
waterproof membrane, but they never get used either, I have a small
    tankbag for carrying stuff in.

So all relatively new kit then, probably influenced by Halvarsson.

  10. 20-30C? Hotter than what?

Just wear what you normally wear and ride faster.
