Good Bike Book Seller on Amazon

  1. Given all the posts we have had about Banks and Building Societies, the
following proves that there are still some "good guys" out there.

In December I noticed a copy of The Encyclopedia of Motorcycles (Roger
Hicks) 550 pages on sale through Amazon France. I couldn't believe the
price, so I ordered it for Euro 9.42 including postage to France from the
    USA,!

After a month it hadn't turned up and I got a reply to say that it was
unavailable and Amazon refunded by card. I thought that they had realised
that the price probably didn't cover even the postage and had "withdrawn"
    it.

Then today, Monsieur La Poste in his yellow van pitched up this morning with
a package that had come via Switzerland and it contained the book. Now,
when I am treated properly, I try and be honest with suppliers so I emailed
them, explained what had happened and offered them a Euro or UKP Bank Cheque
    for the Euro 9.42.

Just received an email from Sherry at the Book Seller saying do not send
    cheque, have a wonderful day!.

I am one very happy bunny. The book is an ex library copy but in good
condition throughout. The company I was dealing with were called Thrift
    Books at:

    www.thriftbooks.com

Based on my experience, I would have no hestitation in using them again.

Well thanks to Eddies Mum I'm now relying completely reliant on
    readitswapit.com for my book supplies.

Just finished Sink the Belgrano[1], and shortly moving to Dead Famous
(Ben Elton). For the price of 2nd class postage you can't beat it. My
train trips to London are getting more frequent so my next purchase
might be a RDS personal radio to go with the 2 books per trip I normally
    get through.

[1] Really quite good, although missing some bits, but I'm now comparing
any "war" books to Vulcan 607 which captivated me, so perhaps not a fair
    review.

  3. Tis troo, there is a library within long walking distance from me which
I would love to use, but the choice is poor. I used libraries
(including mobiles when not in walking diatance) a great deal when I was
a yoof and lived with the 'rents, but now it's actually more convenient
and I get more choice using an online swap system and the post office.

Bit depressing I suppose, some kind of merging of minds of the library
system, charity shops and sites like readitswapit would be ideal, but
for now I'll stick with what serves me best.

  6. TBF it was a while ago, at a *OSM. Or at least at the black horse, I
think Corfield was there, and Moosehead, which dates it.

If you're going for the "Jet Bomber Pilot" one, can I have a go at that
    when you've finished?
