The Honda CB500 has just gone off to it's new owner.

I feel quite sad to see it go.

Anyway, on a brighter note the DVLA reckon my log book should arrive this
week for the Zephyr, woo hoo.

Dan, I've been meaning to ask you about this. Did you not get the "New
keeper's" part of the V5 when you bought it?

If so, I thought you could use that to tax the thing?

So do I, if I had known then what I know now, I don't think I would have
been so fussy about a bleeding fairing.

And I'm gonna miss a ride out and barbie this Sunday... bugger!

No, the bit I got was the new keepers slip the completed by the last owner
before the bloke I bought it from (i.e the burd he bought it from).

Rather than present this, and possibly open a can of road tax / SORN worms
for the bloke I got it from, and the burd he bought it from, I thought it
best to apply for a new one.

I visited my local DVLA office who told me it was impossible to tax the bike
without either a V5 or the new owner's bit with my details on. It is,
apparently possible to tax a bike with no V5 if you are already the
registered keeper, and in certain circumstances you can if the previous
owner has sent off their bit and you've lost yours.

It was a bit of a gamble, buying the bike with no proper documentation, but
the guy seemed very straight and gave me the full details of how he came by
it, so I took the risk.

Nothing wrong with yellow bikes. Nothing at all.
