    Not on a hardened bearing centre it don't. FOAD torch and stilson turned it
    in the end.

    specifically to remove stuck head bearings from steering stems.

    Well, cutting a slice in mine worked just fine - and that was with the
    weedy little cordless one.

    It'd've taken too long to grind it off. It had an extra thick inner to
    accomodate the slender steering spindle.
    None shall resist the mighty 2 foot stilson.

    Further reading[1] suggests unclipping the wiring loom from the frame,
    then re-attaching it.

    Obvious, really innit?

    I was going suggest that it must surely be possible to removed one of
    the "fixed" ends. Would it be too much of an assumption to guess that
    one end goes the LHS switch gear?
