Apologies in advance - only one "oh, for ****'s sake!" moment included
    this week.

Decided to re-fit he CD changer, having successfully relocated the
slidy-door thing on the top. Simple enough, and the control panel,
having been thoroughly cleaned inside and out, was re-velcroed to the
    fairing side.

Then decided to fit the heated grips. Daytonas, they are. Dunno if
    they're any good, or not.

Old grips off easily enough - wiv a knife. Sorted out all the
wiring[1], via my UberGay chrome switch box, and the then slid the
grip onto the bars. They're about 1cm shorter than the grips I've
    taken off.

    "O,FFS!"

Bollocks to it, it'll have to do[2]. Can't put the originals back on,
    that's for sure.

Also fitted the "Rings of Fire" to the disc covers. That Dremel-o-like
from Machine Mart is proving to be worth its weight in gold. Flexible
extensions for drills are the business. Disc covers to go on when
    wiring completed.

Herself then pointed out that we were out of milk, so, for a laugh, I
attempted to kick the KH into life. It started second kick, so I spent
the next 40 minutes getting a carton of milk, the "long way round".[3]

Top fun, and it even idled properly on my return. The front brake is
utterly dreadful, though, even worse than I remembered. Looking at the
marking on the disc (a circle around 1cm wide, all the way round), I
wouldn't be surprised to find that the pad's gone AWOL.

    It doesn't smoke much, either.

[1] Properly, with soldering irons and everything.[4]
[2] Until I source a pair of the right size, obviously.
[3] I'm getting really odd urges now, having watched this several
times, all the way through. Common sense is prevailing at the moment.
I have no reason to suspect that it won't win, either.
[4] When holding your soldering iron in a vice, don't lean across it
to retrieve stuff from the other side of the work bench. That funny
smell used to be a Hackett sweater. Arse.

  2. That's spolied you stories a bit now - most of us always picture you
working on the Wing wearing only a leather thong.

Would it be possible to have a gprs(1) phone and small lcd screen fitted inside
the wing faring, giving you access to the net ?

That way you could post while riding, telling us what's not fallen off.

    1. is that right ?

Given that I can't recall anything that's fallen off[1] in the last
eight years, I can't see it'd get much use.

    It's a GoldWing, not a fucking Harley.

    [1] Except me, obviously.

I forgot it was a Honda, and they never go wrong well mine have never seemed
    to(1)

It seems I have been caught, over the years by the brand loyalty thing: good and
bad experiences (of bikes and cars) have embued me with a brand loyalty.

If, and I am actually, looking at another cheapo commuter, I tend to look for
    little used Honda bikes.

This occasionaly makes me think - why ? Why am I not checking all available
relevent bikes ie. within, the correct price range and the corrrect locale.

Just a couple of thought after a very bizarre evening.

Do you take turns with it?
