If I had a clean licence I'd just cough the £60 as the points won't make
    any real difference to insurance.

I'd be loathed to pay £120 just to be patronised on a speed awareness
    course.

It's only £72 in Hampshire and well worth it.
They showed lots of photos of crashes with butch firemen posing with big
    tools.
They gave us the gory details but totally forgot the nauseating drugs
    and Beethoven.
So as brainwashing sessions go, it was crap. But there was free coffee
    and biscuits.

I'd probably do the same, it's a day off work which adds to the cost,
I just reckoned at that speed that's what the OP will be offered.

Pff, lucky bugger. I got done with a 91kph in a 90kph, a couple of
    months back.

  9. But that number (91) was 'after correction', right?

That'll depend on the local authority and where they set the bar for
speed awareness courses. It's 35 in a 30 limit in Northants and over
    that you get the points.

Are you sure your friend in the quiet carriage wasn't a member who
just didn't recognise you? I'm confident he loathed you.

Yes, but I'd assume it was the same for Dan. Proportionally speaking,
it was less over the speed for me than him too.

  14. Unless the method has changed since I lived there, Dan's 36 is the
speed recorded by the camera, with no correction subtracted.

  15. Right on, Brother. Enjoy your Bank Holiday.

Curiously enough though, I never actually received my ballot paper.
    Some RMT members did.

    Christ, that's harsh.
If I am offerred the course I'll prolly take the option, although
Shirley thinks my attitude to it is appalling:

Me: "I'll do it but it's bollocks"
Her: "You always speed, it's what you need"
Me: "I only speed when I don't agree with the speed limit signs"
Her: "That's what I mean, you always speed"
Me: "Yebbut last time I got done was 1989, so it works out at £3 per
year, not bad value" (cheers to whoever suggested that one)
    Her: Unimpressed silence.
    Me: "Anyway, it's still bollocks"

  17. Well, it was probably more like indicated 96 in a 90.

    Divorce is the answer.

I have absolutely no desire to be re-educated regarding speed
awareness. I know the figures, I know the dangers, but I like
driving/riding at speeds higher than the government allow so I shall
    keep on doing it.
