    ARGH!

So, on my way to work this morning some stupid wanker decided that pulling
out in front of me would be a good idea.

Needless to say I didn't come off better, the bike is stuffed and I am
hurting. But the thing that really made it was the fact that he drove off...
****! He left some bits of his car behind in his rush to get away, though,
so the police can easily see if they belong to a certain car. At least about
4 people managed to take down his number plate, and two of them got a good
look at his face. The police say the car is registered, not stolen, and has
    insurance on it, great.

But now I am not so sure the accident is really all that bad, especially
when compared to dealing with my insurance company. So far I have been
bounced around my broker, Motorcycle direct, who can't give me any straight
answers, my under writer (AXA) who say I need to talk to my legal protection
people (DAS) who say they can't do anything until they find out if the car
has insurance, oh and throw in the MVRA somewhere in there...

So I am stuck with one fucked up bike, no way to get to work tomorrow, a
neck and back that hurt like hell, and what looks like a long, drawn out
process to get anything out of the other driver's insurance company for an
accident that was not my fault.

    So how was your day?

Am I the only one that thinks they are not so good?

    Perhaps.
They seem to get a lot more good press on here than bad.

I'd probably use them if I had the need, in the same way
I'd be happy to use Lloyd Coopers and the RAC[1] even
though certain people on ukrm have had not so good
    experiences.

    [1] I wouldn't as I'm in the AA, but I'm sure YKWIM.

  5. Don't go to work tomorrow/for the rest of the week. Get your doc to
sign you off. That's one worry down, and if you spend the time
reclined sensibly (ie in a bath or in bed) your neck and back will
    hurt less too.

Sounds like there are enouygh witnesses for the insewerance not to be
a big deal. although having said that, when i was hit in my cage by a
woman who admitted liabaility at the time, it still took 4 months to
    get my car fixed.
Better than that, thanks for asking.

I would be quite tempted to do that, but I missed 3 days last week due to
    being ill, with flu/bad cold.

I don't think they would appreciate me being off for another week.
    Good :D

    I just called them, thanks.

    Their opinion is this:

Pay to have the bike fixed, then send in the receipts to DAS, but if DAS
keep messing you around, then give us a call.

Nice to speak to a helpful bunch of people for once!

  9. Yebbut, it's not like you've made it up is it? Skiving 2 weeks on the
trot, slap on the wrists, maybe. Surviving being twatted by a car does
not equal skiving, so, definite time off.

.. The police say the car is registered, not stolen, and has
Ask the police for the insurance company and then get the ball moving
directly while your lot pull their finger out.

  11. They're on my case at the moment. Any difficulties encountered so far
seem to be due to others' inefficiencies.

Maybe they wouldn't, but if you go in and it exacerbates your injuries
you're going to be worse off. Get yourself checked over first YKIMS

Better still make it clear in the claim that (esp if you're under 30) it's
buggered (!) your sex life, they *will* take that into account...
