It's a little box of tricks, which stops the ignition timing from being
retarded in 1st and 2nd IIRC, and yes it would put a bigger strain on the
    drivetrain.
So how do you know its a KNOWN ISSUE.

Please please get this out of your head. Warranty is a misnomer.
Call the CAB or a solicitor and check the SoGA, it'll trump the warranty
    every time.

And since when did anyone around here ever accept any first offer of
    goodwill/insurance payout/quote/etc?

    :)

    Prolly more + VAT.

I reckon they are saying it's a "known" weakness on the earlier bikes.

They were keen to point out that it's a goodwill gesture. I reckon I
should take it, after all it's out of warranty.
    Agreed ;-)

    I asked them very nicely.
Brakes disks are a consumable item.

Cool, that the nicest thing [1] you've ever said to me.

[1] I think it was a compliment. Perhaps Dan looks better than me?

Ambiguous menaing it goes both ways then?
Nope, but lets face it, every single one of us on here would expect a
brand new gixxer thou to last more than the 6 year end point. Assuming
    it is maintained correctly.
A point of which I was unaware - and have stated makes the case dodgier.
alleged know issue - blah blah
they can, but they won't. Bad publicity will deter them
I think it's unreasonable and wouldn't accept it without further pushing
    for a better offer.

If you're seriously implying that I look like Molly in my leathers, then I
would suggest you get your glasses checked.

Er.. not sure I would. Certainly not without SOME work needing to be done on
    it.
Isn't there a difference between a known issue and an admitted issue?
Well., it's certainly a novel approach.

    Heh - fair point I suppose :)

But as noted elsewhere, I thought it was the golden rule of UKRM to
never accept a first offer - be it insurance quote, insurance payout,
    goodwill gesture etc.

Suzuki here appear to be slightly on the back foot, might as well nudge
them to see if they'll kneel down as well :)

Because there was a blatant design fault with the K1 clutch basket.

Have they officially said that? I know you're feeling strongly about this
because you have a K1, but still ;-)

No they haven't afaik, but enough people seem to have had it break for
Suzuki to be kind if people come to them with a problem.

I do think Molly has been lucky with the offer, mind.
