Sounds like a pre-Unaugural aus.moto dinner is in order! BTH Agreed! Now that the poisonous Woodstock has gone, any suggestions for an alternate venue??? betty
I just tried Delissio in Braddon and it makes great $12 individual pizzas and a good range of tapas. Not real well set up for big tables, but. $20+ mains. Or my favourite: Kopi Tiam in Manuka: $18 p/h banquet of Malaysian style morsels (5 courses I think, but more than you can eat anyways). BYO with corkage, or a good range by the glass).
Or a day-after-birthday dinner - if I still counted them ... I'll be camped in a pub on Northbourne and probably having a cleansing ale at the Wig and Pen ~5pm, I've just been told! Great to catch up with you all! Beer at Wig and Pen definitely deserves another visit! Cheers Goaty -- _--_|\ John Lamp - in beautiful downtown Highton / \ IRC: DoD#:1906 Ulysses#:10185 Vulcan Nomad \_.--._/ Phone: 0409 512 254 v mailto: Fax: 03 5227 2151 Hear no Evo, See no Evo, Fear no Evo
The entire evening was truly surreal! BTH and Minx were in the midst of a work/family/neighbourhood 'do' when I arrived at the Wig & Pen, and I didn't realise they were there, despite seating myself a mere 3 metres away from them... Thank goodness for mobile phones <snigger>. My phone rang while I was in the middle of texting BTH to say "I've arrived. Where are you?". "Look 45 degrees to your left", said BT, and the entire jolly table sat there smirking and waving at me while I blushed into my phone and felt like the world's biggest goose.. And it just got weirder and weirder as the evening went on! Goaty arrived at the pub with an entourage that included someone who looked suspiciously like my ex-boss's husband - surely not! But it WAS - and my worlds collided as once again Canberra worked its 'six degrees of separation' magic.) What a hoot! Wish I could've stuck around for dinner, but by the time people stopped reciting Monty Python ;-) and decided it was dinner time, it was almost my bedtime, and my own house-guest's arrival at my house was imminent - what an interesting week it was! Looking forward to your next visit Goaty! betty
"Smirking" indeed! We were just happy to see you! ;-) I can assure you that it was a total surprise to me to arrive at Goaty's nominated pub and find my cousin (fellow DVA employee), his brother (QANTAS international pilot, haven't seen him in about 4 years), my next-door neighbour (until recently a DVA employee), and a 3rd DVA colleague having their early Xmas party. The fact that Goaty himself is an ex-DVA employee increased our corporate tally to 6. Likewise, Minx and I had a very pleasant evening. BTH
bikerbetty wrote... Goaty did that to me in the Apollo Bay pub once. I was standing at the bar when my phone rang. He was standing about 2m away from me...
