I just went to register a GMail account using FireFox and in the drop

    Johannes (Joe) van Raamt

and his normal e mail address and some other details

Sorry to disillusion you, but those drop downs are provided and populated by
    Firefox. Google doesn't populate them.

Maybe someone has put a back door into Borgs PC, and is using it to send
emails? If it's on broadband, and Windows, and without a plethora of
additional support programs and utilities.... it may be compromised. It
may be compromised anyway, even with all the usual stuff that's
reasonable to keep a PC in good health.

Or Borg may have more than one person in his head. :)

It was for registering a F Mail account after an invite.

    That's quite possible :)

you need to find out your ip address. If you are on a dynamically allocated
address (most prople are) you can get your current address at this site:

    http://www.whatismyip.com/

Then one of the *nixisti can assist. My box is stripped for upgrade atm.

Just be a little cautious and run the scan in stealth mode at a slow rate. There are some isp's out there who will block your ip and note the mac address of your gateway if they detect a portscan originating from it.
