My Alpinestars SP-2 gloves have seen better days, and I reckon a new
    pair is imminent.

I've really liked them for summer use and I was just going to
mail-order another pair but then decided to look into maybe getting
some that at least purport to be waterproof.

For a mere 50% premium[1] I could go for either the Tech Road or the
Jet Road (both Gore-Tex) but there isn't a great deal of detail on them.

Anyone got any opinions on any/all of these? Any others to try?

Yes, I could pop-down to HG, but I'm sat at work waiting for IT support
to get back to me so my current task is "researching motorcycle gloves"
although obviously that won't go down on my timesheet.

I'm a big fan of Goretex X-Trafit - the goretex liner is bonded to the
leather itself so you don't get the feeling that the liner is coming away
from the glove when it's soggy or you're taking them off. My HG pair with
this in are great - very comfortable in all conditions.

The only Alpinestar glove with X-Trafit, though, is the 365, which is
    about 150 quid.
I'll put this down as "handling internet enquiries".

I got some race spec Arlen Ness gloves brand new off ebay for £50, they are
much better quality than AS stuff. I dont like waterproof gloves at all.

If you're not in a major rush, it'd probably be worth your while taking
a trip to the George White Outlet Centre in Swindon. They've got the
biggest selection of gloves you're ever likely to see in one place bar
    the NEC show.

Ta. I see that they're open on Sundays and are only 20-odd miles from
    Chievely.

The Jet Road is more of a winter glove (though far from the warmest I've
ever worn) but pretty good. If you'd prefer leather rather than textile,
then the 365 GTX is pretty much a Goretex-lined version of the SP-1.

I've got all three (Jet Road, 365 and SP1) and they're all great. First
is for cold and wet, second is for warm and possibly wet, third is for
    warm and dry.

Silk inners as well for ease of putting them on and off, obviously.

Motorway or dual carriageway all the way too apart from about half a
    mile.

    ****, perhaps. Well-prepared ****, almost certainly. It's not like I was
    wearing anything from Q's workshop.
