It ought to, it's only eight months old.

  4. Apparently, WW1 pilots who sat behind rotary engines lubed with castor
oil (Sopwith Camel being a classic example) were always astonishingly
'regular'. Who needs All Bran, anyway?

  6. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "Dr Ivan D. Reid"
I suppose to turn it off, you inject some Vitamin C?

Good point, particularly re premix, but my somewhat simplistic pea brain
would have assumed that the mechanism for delivering injected oil would have
been based on a specific viscosity range. It seems odd that the same pump
and injector works despite one oil being rather gloopy and the other being
    somewhat pissy.

I was doing that on BR in the late eighties (and making the wicks)
although the little glass bowls were brass.

I've got an old Gunson's Colourtune which is pretty useful for proving
the state of play across the rev range on each cylinder.

Although I do do a plug chop on sustained high rev hard work just to make
    sure.

  11. If the bikes are regularly used, they seem to last. It's only when the
things are laid up for years that they harden and fail, to be honest.

Memories of Gibbo's XS250 and the Mole grips clamping the fuel line in
place of a tap. And the look on the face of the sailor in charge of
securing the bikes on the ferry deck....

  13. I used to have one of those, but the trouble is you can't see them if
you fit them to many modern bikes because they're hidden under all the
    plastic.

I've got an EGO sensor on my exhaust that does the same thing
but you can read the bargraph display while riding.

Who was the OP? Has he found the problem yet?

The 08/09 diesel shunters /still/ use the wick and oil lube method but
they were built in the 50s/60s; I last oiled up an 08 in about 1993,
although it wasn't really part of our duties at the time. The BR
Standard locomotives (again built 1950s-1960s) used that method of
    lubrication.
