glf bargain?

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by the man with no idea, Jan 16, 2008.

  1. I got all excited about the prospect of some excellent quality
leathers after Lozzo's post about the sale. Phoned up GLF and,
apparently, the last set my size had just gone. He took my no. just in
case some were returned but I didn't expect to hear owt.

Yesterday got a phone call at work - 'some your size have come back.'
So we talked measurements. I buy trousers with a 33" IL (though my
proper measure is longer. Despite the good man's assurance that inside
leg measure was irrelevant I decided not to go for the 28" leg
    trousers on offer.

The jacket, he told me, had a 26" sleeve. As I need a 25" sleeve I
thought I'd give it a go. It arrived today - sleeve length 24" ie as
much use as an elastic bog chain. So I'm going to be £20 out on
    postage.

So the question is, have I fundamentally misunderstood the measuring
    process, or has GLF man?

I had to send my apparent "made to measure" two piece suit back as
both legs were several inches too long and one longer than the other.

Don't buy clothes online unless the retailer offers a free returns service.

Of the clothing I buy, I find motorcycle clothing to be the most
inconsistent as far as sizing goes.

    the phone.

What use is a sleeve if it is the correct length but inadequate diameter?
I'm a pretty unconventional 3D shape and I find the common or garden 2D
    measurement system wholly inadequate.

  7. Well that's got me wondering. What 3D shape is it?

  9. Heh. Even though that's probably the best offer I've had for a while
    I'm probably not your type.

So, we have a might and a probably. The odds are looking favourable. Where
    are we dining?

Think yourself lucky, it's cost me 25 notes to try on a jacket. Well,
you live and learn, as one door shuts another slams in your face, you
lose some and you lose some more. Insert your own cliche.

Now, if anyone could recommend a cheap courier for a one-off parcel
    that would be great.

North Lincolnshire if you're paying - and I insist on taking my wife
as a chaperone. You're far too persistent, sophisticated and clever
    for me.
