Just got back from an initial 2 days in Gladstone. I noticed a number of
bikes parked where I'll be working (GPA) and despite them mostly being
Hardlys, it does suggest that there is something of a 2 wheel thing
    happening up there.

Thanks to Adrian (rustydog) and Aaron for your suggestions. From the air,
it does look like an interesting area to check out on a bike and so I'll
probably bring up the beast. Otherwise I may buy a dirtbike while I'm up
    there and get feeelthy. Hehe

Incidentally, Gladdy is much nicer than I had expected. Plenty of
characters and folk seem pretty happy. ...and how about that temperature??
    Mmmmmm

    Cheers,

Hey, when you're in gladstone - maybe you should look up some fellow
    ausmotians... :)

Rob and I moved up here from Sydney January 2003 (mind you - I grew up
here.... if you can say that I managed to grow up)...

I hate to disappoint you though - not much in the way of riding roads up
here... but - bring your dirt bike - heaps of state forest... (woops
did I say that?) to ride in...

We're into trials up here - and those bikes get used a helluva lot more
    than the road bikes.. :(

I miss going zoom on my storm :(

    Something. Not much.
From all I've heard that's the go.
Temperature? It's 'winter' and you're complaining about the temp. Come
    summertime you're fucked...

    Weekend ride to Townsville? :)

Mate, that was no complaint. I was truly loving the weather in your part of
    the woods.
Absolutely. I may try to get the XX up there asap. Should be able to knock
it off in a day and a half, yes?? (...from Sydney). Otherwise the dirtbike
    option sounds good.

People here are great - always a friendly face....

It's just starting to cool down for winter... (I had to go and buy a
blanket the other day... how sad is that??? haven't been outta sydney
for two years yet - and I'm feeling the cold here already.... I'm such a
    queenslander)

Summer is ok - if you have friends with:
    1. Swimming Pool
    2. Aircon

We have the latter - and hopefully by summer we'll have the former!!!
When we moved from sydney - we did the trip on the bike in a day - but
that was because we could switch and drive the car - I did the first leg
    - I rode from Sydney to Goondoowindi (believe me - inland is much
    smarter - it's only a 1400km trip then)

(We were smart enough to at least have one bike on the trailer - it
couldn't do more than one bike)

But at least you won't be doing it in January - we left end of January -
I had leather pants on until goondoowindi when we met up with my
parents and my brother rode the bike - it was freezing going through
muswellbrook and the like at 3am... but Goondoowindi was stinking hot -
I could hardly get the pants off because of sweating so badly - not a
    good thing!
